A Better Friend
by Laurayne S. Bryon
Your heart is soft,
Your manner warm,
But deep inside you,
All is a storm.
You are a puzzle,
One of a kind,
So complicated,
And yet so kind.
The things you’ve been through,
In your young life,
The pain, the triumphs,
The love, the strife.
Could have made you rigid,
Cold, wary and callous,
But in your heart,
There is no malice.
You speak with love,
Straight from the heart
At each new turn,
At each new start.
A better friend,
There could not be,
To all who know you,
Including me.
